Swedish hardcore punk icons WOLF BRIGADE today release the title track of their upcoming new album, Life Knife DeathExpected release date is September 13th via Metal Blade Records.
Founded in 1995 in the small Swedish town of Mariestad by key figures of the legendary Swedish hardcore scene, WOLF BRIGADE — formerly known as Wolf pack to 1999 – is one of Scandinavia’s most respected, influential and reliable suppliers of real brute force chaos. Life Knife Deaththirty years of skill are brought to the fore and delivered with more style and intensity than ever before. Most immediate is the sheer speed and barely controlled fury that is expressed through dynamic, bloodthirsty D-beat pieces such as “Ways to die” And “Your God is a corpse”, the furious attack is elevated to heart-wrenching grandeur by a newly released sense of raw spontaneity. The band’s disparate influences are brought together with a unified solidity – the relentless rhythms of dischargethe working class rock ‘n’ roll of Motorheadthe top-heavy club of the classic Buried – even the Beatles take a look inside, albeit in a subverted form, with the great title “A A day in the life of an asshole.”
The band comments on the song as follows: “Life Knife Death”, “Humanity casts a long shadow of bloodshed and brutality. From a blow to the head with a mammoth’s femur to a drone attack on a children’s hospital. Life becomes life, man becomes knife.”

In a Bandcamp interview in 2019 to promote their last LP, The Enemy: Reality, WOLF BRIGADE Bassist Johan Erkenvåg noted: “the political climate of the last few years has been the worst we have ever experienced in our lives.” After half a decade of war, plague, disasters and terror, it is as if the world heard Erkenvåg’s statement and said: “hold my beer.” The growing global chaos may have us all fearing the end of times, but it has also seemingly created the ideal circumstances for a hardcore punk LP that is as dazzlingly brutal as WOLF BRIGADE‘S Life Knife Death.
“Well, who would have thought! The five years that have passed since our last album have served as a pretty good backdrop for a new punk record, or misanthropy in general.”, affirms the band, adding an ironic nod for Bill Hicks fans, “Humanity – a virus with shoes. As always, our lyrics are driven by the ever-growing disgust we feel towards humanity. The everyday realization that we are part of this fear-animalistic stupidity that is driving the world ever further into oblivion. Inspiration just keeps raining from the sky, killing the masses. Waking up to it every day makes us want to scream in horror..”
