CHARLESTON, SC – The Pacific volleyball team faces a coast-to-coast weekend as the Tigers travel to the College of Charleston Classic to face Yale, USC Upstate and the College of Charleston.
Yale and Pacific face off at TD Arena on Friday at 8 a.m. PT. The Tigers will play again against USC Upstate on Friday at 2 p.m. PT and close out the weekend against host College of Charleston on Saturday at 4 p.m. PT.
University graduate as outside attacker Alexa Edwards makes the All-Rebel Challenge Tournament team after a 46-kill, 29-dig, 5.0-block performance in Las Vegas last weekend. Edwards ranks seventh in the West Coast Conference and led all Tigers in kills through opening weekend.
The Tigers’ offense is led by Setter Jenna Heller. The senior gave 99 assists and was the best player on his team and fifth in the conference after three games. His colleague in the second year Dylan Gilkey leads the Tigers with five aces, which is enough for 10th place in the WCC.
Junior libero Jaylin Swains 3.92 digs per set ranks third in the conference after collecting 51 digs to lead the Tiger defense. Graduate Margherita Giani scored 9.0 blocks in three games, while Junior Emily Van Groningen 6.0 blocks. The pair is the leading team so far this season.
Pacific has a 1-0 overall record against Yale, having won 3-1 in Stockton on September 15, 2006. The Tigers will play their first ever matchups against USC Upstate and the College of Charleston.
Live stats are available for all three games, while Pacific’s game against College of Charleston will be streamed on FloSports.
