Swift secured the trademark rights to the novel, all audio versions of it, and all related merchandise in 2015, and the original manuscript is believed to have been kept by her parents for the ten years since she wrote it.
The ‘Cruel Summer’ singer gave a Speak Now tour in 2012 when she began writing the book after her star was on the rise. “All my friends were in Pennsylvania, so I had nothing to do,” she told the audience. “I had this epiphany: I’m going to be a novelist and I’m going to write novels.
