Another cool morning with temperatures below 10 degrees. The sun will quickly warm us up to 30 degrees today and try to compete with the 30 degrees. Humidity will stay low today but will start to rise overnight.
Lows tonight will be around 62 degrees, with more clouds moving in from the west through Friday morning. There is a slight chance of rain overnight or early Friday.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected for Friday, especially in the afternoon and evening. In the first half of the day it will become increasingly cloudy, with temperatures rising to over 30 degrees again in the afternoon.
The chance of rain for Friday is 60%, so most areas are expected to see rain, but not all. Rainfall amounts will be about 1/4 inch or less for most of central Ohio, so nothing to write home about. The tricky part is that this rain will start later on Friday and could affect high school football games on Friday night.
The chance of severe weather is very low, but there is a small risk that some of the strongest storms will bring gusty winds or hail. The majority of this rain will clear around midnight Friday and then move away.
On Saturday we’ll have a mix of sun and clouds with a cool breeze coming out of the northwest. Morning lows will be just under 10 degrees, then highs will rise to around 21 degrees. Saturday night will be cool for Ohio State and Crew, with temperatures dropping to 15 degrees by the end of games and falling to 10 degrees, and the fresh breeze will make it feel a bit cooler. Sunday will be mostly sunny with morning temperatures around 8 degrees in Columbus and 5 degrees in surrounding areas. Sunday’s highs will rise to around 22 degrees.
There will be plenty of sunshine next week as the weather warms up again. Temperatures will reach around 80 degrees on Monday and 86 degrees on Tuesday. It will be around 88 degrees by Wednesday. Humidity will remain low next week.
We currently have no active organized storms in the Atlantic or Caribbean. There are currently 4 clusters of unorganized storms to monitor over the next few days. The tropical season in the Atlantic will likely pick up steam over the next few weeks.
