British Love is Blind star Steven has responded to claims by his ex-wife Sabrina that he invited an ex-girlfriend to her wedding.
Love is blind UK Star Sabrina is now speaking out about her split from husband Steven now that the experiment has ended and aired on Netflix, and announced at the reunion that they split after 86 days.
Since their split, they have each given insight into their relationship. Sabrina claimed in a recent interview on IGV that Steven invited his ex-girlfriend to her wedding. However, he has since denied it.
“Steven brought his ex-girlfriend to our wedding,” Sabrina said. “I couldn’t talk to her, I introduced myself.”
Steven immediately denied the allegations separately this week, saying the person he invited was someone he had been on a few dates with but had developed a friendship with.
He told Cosmopolitan UK: “It was someone I went on a few dates with a few years ago but it never developed into anything more than a friendship.
“I discussed the entire wedding registry with Sabrina, as couples do before sending out invitations, so I’m surprised she said that.”
Steven and Sabrina are seeking an annulment of their marriage last year as part of the experiment after the long-distance relationship put a strain on their relationship, although it grew stronger during the time they lived together in London for the show.
At the meeting, Sabrina told Steven that she didn’t feel like he respected her. She also claimed that after the experiment ended, he didn’t seem as committed as she did, as he flew to London seven times while he only flew to Belfast twice.
In an interview with Capital, Sabrina told us, “I married him based on words we had discussed and promised each other before we returned to the real world. And unfortunately, a lot of that didn’t translate to the real world.”
Sabrina said she “tried her best to make it work” and even had “Mrs. Smith” engraved on a Dior bag. She added: “If that doesn’t tell you about my commitment… I was all in, I was all committed.”
The marketing executive said she felt Steven “didn’t treat her like a partner,” and explained at the meeting that she felt she had invested more in the relationship than he had and that’s why she made the decision herself.
She then explained how much the failure of her marriage and the fact that the beginning of her relationship was televised had affected her, especially as she was looking forward to the show airing.
Sabrina and Steven will meet again on Love Is Blind: UK reunion
“It was really difficult for me after that because I had to come to terms with what I had lost and the fact that it was going to be on TV for everyone to see and that you’re experiencing a failed marriage while the whole world is watching. And that was really hard for me to comprehend.
“I felt a lot of guilt for saying yes. I was like, ‘You’re an idiot for saying yes, I should have known better.’ I ended up being diagnosed with depression, I was put on anti-anxiety medication for the first time in my life, I couldn’t sleep, I had really severe insomnia. I isolated myself from my friends because I was too embarrassed. I didn’t tell one of my bridesmaids (about the breakup) until May because I was so embarrassed.”
She added that she is “doing well” after a long period of therapy and is in a “good place” after spending time on herself and starting her new business.
