One cannot blame fans of “Sherwood” for wondering whether author James Graham could “conjure up the film’s noir magic a second time,” wrote Carol Midgley in the Times.
Set in a Nottinghamshire village in the 2000s, the crime drama is a brilliant portrayal of a community still riven by the toxic divisions created by the miners’ strikes of the 1980s. In the end, there seemed no need for a sequel. But now we have a second series, and I’m happy to report that it’s brilliant: Graham’s “talent for understanding human nature” and “creating complex, believable characters is just as compelling as last time.”
