Von Erichs is having a lot of fun at AEW.
Over the summer, the Von Erichs (Marshall Von Erich, Ross Von Erich and Kevin Von Erich) formed an on-screen alliance with Dustin Rhodes.
Through this alliance, the trio Dustin, Marshall and Ross became ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions and have successfully defended their titles twice so far.
Marshall, Ross and Kevin taped an episode of AEW Unrestricted along with Aubrey Edwards and Will Washington. Marshall expressed the view that he and his brother are not in wrestling for the fame, adding that they could have tried to join WWE a long time ago.
My dad kind of instilled that in us. He said when he was in the Sportatorium, he was playing college football at the same time and his teammates wanted to watch him wrestle and he was like, ‘I didn’t want to embarrass myself. When they came, I wanted them to believe what I was doing and I wanted it to be something where they go home and wonder, ‘What the hell was that?’ You know? And so we realized we just love that cozy style of wrestling and they (Undisputed Kingdom) were all into it and Dustin (Rhodes) was preparing us and it just – it was really the perfect match for us. We loved every second of it. That whole experience was just so humbling. I didn’t know how cool everyone was going to be at AEW. The locker room, it’s like the happiest locker room. It really feels like it was made just for us. All the guys in the locker room, that’s one of the best conversations. The fans are just amazing. We were so proud to be able to wrestle for AEW in the DFW area; Arlington, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio. To be able to do that was like a dream come true because Ross (Von Erich) and I talked about it for months. Before we even got into the conversation with anybody, we told each other and my dad, especially after the movie (The Iron Claw) came out, we were at Busted Open and we basically made it clear that when people google my dad, we want to show the story that his sons are not only doing what he did but following in his footsteps but being successful at it and we’re not in wrestling to be famous or anything like that. We could have tried to go to WWE a long time ago. We were in it for a whole other reason. Obviously, the Von Erichs, to make (it) a household name. That was a mission, but before that it was just an attempt to get to know our family better and prove my dad right. My dad was my biggest supporter from the beginning and we didn’t believe in ourselves in Japan. We were 0-70, getting our asses kicked every day in the dojo, doing things you do as young guys and it was just an extremely humbling experience. But we fell in love with wrestling because now these rewards are coming. Those years of work and to have it pay off like that with Dustin and my dad, that was a really humbling moment. It was impossible to comprehend that that night so it took about three or four days and when we all got home and made eye contact and started talking it was like, “Did that really just happen?” It kept going. Great. It made me fall in love with professional wrestling again. That was by far the most fun time of my career.
Dustin and The Von Erichs were in action at AEW All In Zero Hour, taking part in a 10-man tag where their team took the win.
