EXCLUSIVE: Jason Paige sang the theme song for the Pokemon series in the 1990s and now he’s doing the same for an upcoming animated series for preschoolers.
Paige will collaborate with TikTok star Sunglasses Kid to create the theme song for the comedy adventure show Duncan’s flying tugboatby the animation producer CUDO. Sunglasses Kid specializes in synthwave music from the 1980s, while Paige wrote the English-language theme song for Pokemonand the series is intended to be a homage to children’s series of the 80s and 90s.
Duncan’s flying tug was first announced in 2021, but has now been revamped as a new version for the children’s television market. CUDO works with Paw Patrol Alumnus Scott Albert, who serves as writer, and Relish for animation.
“We are excited to bring these two musical powerhouses together,” said Dave Martell, CEO of CUDO and co-creator of Duncan’s flying tugboat“Their combined talent will give our show a musical identity that will resonate with audiences of all ages.”
“Standout theme songs are rare these days,” added Will Bryan, Chief Creative Officer. “We remember our favorite songs from childhood, but today’s animation landscape often neglects their potential. We won’t make that mistake.”
Duncan’s flying tugboat follows the adventures of a ragtag crew of “Eggyboos” aboard their flying tugboat as they travel through the skies, help other adventurers, meet new friends and have fun and laughter along the way.
Virginia-based CUDO, formerly known as The SkyFarm Company, describes it as “a combination of action-adventure of Paw Patrol with the down-to-earth kindness of Bluish.”
A Roblox game and an iOS storybook app are also in development. CUDO says they will be released “soon.”
