The Pine Island Kiwanis Club will host its first annual Labor Day Bash on Monday, September 2nd from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. James City Civic Center. The club hopes this will become a family tradition on the island. The goal of the event is to raise money for a new parking roof at St. James City Kiwanis Park.
Island Bikeworks and others are giving away four bikes. Bikeworks will also sponsor a safety bike rodeo, with t-shirts for bike participants. There will be bike technicians on site to fine-tune bikes, but kids should bring their own bikes.
There will also be doughnut eating contests, water balloon throwing, potato sack races for teams and individuals, and games for children. There will be prizes for the competitions.
The barbecue will help the Kiwanis raise money, and the club will accept donations. The sheriff’s police dog is also invited, and the American Legion will provide cotton candy.
The Hookers help with a score for the kids. Matt Lee and Rudy Cox provide the music.
Kiwanis is still looking for sponsors and vendors ($20). For vendor/sponsor information, contact info@island brew.com.
Volunteers are always welcome to help with activities, including parking. Contact information is [email protected]
