IGN can exclusively reveal the English voice cast and new poster for the North American release of My Hero Academia: You’re Next. The film takes place after the conclusion of My Hero Academia’s sixth season and shortly before the final battle between the heroes and villains.
My Hero Academia: You’re Next, the fourth film in the series, was produced by Bones and distributed by Toho International. It will be released in North American theaters on October 11. In Japan, the film was released on August 2 and was a huge success both critically and at the box office.
The film’s U.S. key art, seen below, was produced by Umakoshi-san of Bones. Masahiko Minami, the CEO of Bones Inc., called the new visual “a gift to the fans” of My Hero Academia in North America.
“Because we wanted to make sure the visual would resonate well with fans in North America while staying true to the MHA franchise, we worked closely with our local partners and went through several rounds of feedback. Focusing only on the villain from the film, Dark Might, along with Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki might seem like a minimal cast of characters in some ways,” Minami-san said in a statement to IGN.
“But I think that with this limited selection, we managed to create a wonderful design as it enhances the mysterious presence of Dark Might while also showcasing the dynamic movements of the three heroes in an impressive way.”
What is My Hero Academia: You’re Next about?
“It’s your turn next!”
“These were the words uttered by All Might, symbol of peace, after defeating All For One, symbol of evil. All Might may no longer be the number one hero in a society where the majority of the population possesses a supernatural quirk, but Deku and his classmates in the hero course at UA High School are determined to carry on his will and ideals as heroes,” says the film’s official synopsis.
“It was in the spring of Deku’s second year at UA when a fierce battle broke out between heroes and villains. Deku faced an overpowered Tomura Shigaraki and the two clashed violently, with both the heroes and villains suffering serious injuries. The battle has since been temporarily halted with Shigaraki’s retreat, but the time of their next confrontation draws closer with every second.
Japan is devastated by the battle when a mysterious man suddenly appears. He claims to be the one who will replace All Might and become the new symbol. He proclaims, “It’s my turn next!” but turns out to be Dark Might! Although he resembles All Might, Dark Might’s ideals couldn’t be more different. He unleashes his Quirk for his own purposes and builds a massive fortress that begins to absorb the population one by one. Among the group accompanying Dark Might is Anna, a young woman with an unknown Quirk who is targeted by a stoic individual in a butler outfit. Although this person, Giulio, calls her “Miss Anna,” he seems to have his sights set on her life. What could her connection to Dark Might be?
Will Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki, and the rest of UA High Class 1-A be able to protect the world by putting an end to Dark Might – the new symbol and his desires? They must face Dark Might and the obscure criminal organization under his control, the Gollini Family.”
My Hero Academia: You Are Next – English Voice Cast
In the film, Christopher Sabat returns to the franchise to voice the antagonist Dark Might. “The man presents himself as the one destined to replace All Might and become the new symbol. Although he resembles All Might in appearance, Dark Might’s ideals couldn’t be more different,” the official character description reads. “He unleashes his Quirk for his own desires and builds a massive fortress that begins to absorb the population one by one.”
Other returning voice actors include Justin Briner (Izuku Midoriya), Clifford Chapin (Katsuki Bakugo), David Matranga (Shoto Todoroki), and Luci Christian (Ochaco Uraraka).
Mauricio Ortiz-Segura and Kayli Mills voice the brand new characters Giulio Gandini and Anna Scervino respectively.
Giullo is the butler of the Scervino family. He is officially described as “normally calm and composed, but he is also mysterious and has a rare violent side. He stalks Anna Scervino and tries to kill her for some reason. What is his true personality and goal?”
Meanwhile, Anna, the daughter of the wealthy Scervino family, has caught the attention of Dark Might thanks to her special quirk. “She used to have a cheerful personality and was very close to her butler Giulio… but that was before she was kidnapped by Dark Might and his followers. What could her quirk be?”
