Miranda Lambert recently released her new breakup anthem, “D— with Randy!” and as it turns out, it made her husband Brendan McLoughlin cry.
McLoughlin was known as the song’s co-writer. Stupid blonde In the podcast, Lambert explained how the song came about. She said he got a little teary when he heard it.
She said: “He’s really excited about it too. He came over this afternoon and I said, ‘I want to play you something.’ I pressed play and he said – he doesn’t say it, but his eyes got a little moist. He said, ‘You cut my song?’ It was great and it’s one of my favorite songs on the record.'”
She also said that the song was created because of her husband’s offensive remarks.
She said: “My husband was the first person to ever appear on a record, and, to be clear, my husband is a retired cop, not a songwriter. One day he was just talking shit to Jesse Frasure and was like, ‘Writing isn’t that hard! It’s easy.’ Jesse was like, ‘Oh, okay.'”

So they put Brendan’s words into action. Miranda Lambert added, “So he got Brendan to literally write with me, Jesse and Brendan. He covered the tracks and got Brendan to sit there… he came off the golf course, he was in his golf outfit, and we sat there for about four and a half hours and wrote. I mean, that’s a lot. And he was like, ‘Oh, it’s really hard.’ He taught him a lesson.”
But Lambert said her husband stuck with it. Once he focused on it, he became a good songwriter, Lambert said.
“We started writing this song, and Brendan kept chiming in while he was watching football, and I was like, ‘Are we doing this? Are you in or out? You need to turn the game off. You’re a songwriter, so get your pen out,'” she said. “We started writing it together, and he wrote some of the greatest lines in the song. And JR looked at me like he really had it.”
In the end, Lambert was very proud of her husband.
She said: “It was really special because it was also the situation that I wrote this song about. Brendan is my husband, so he had to listen to me whine about it for so long that he kind of knew the story better than I did, you know? So he had the same feelings about it as I did and I’m really proud of him.”
