Tennis fans welcome the return of the US Open
The first day of the US Open began with an “electrified crowd” of loyal fans.
Two Americans will reach the semifinals of the US Open tonight and have a chance to face each other in the final.
These two tennis stars have more in common than just talent and ambition to win: Emma Navarro and Jessica Pegula are both native New Yorkers and both billionaires and heiresses.
Pegula is ranked sixth in the world, while Navarro is ranked 13th.
When does Emma Navarro play?
Navarro will have the tougher match, against the second-best player in the world, two-time Australian Open champion Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, tonight at 7 p.m. Eastern Time at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York.
When does Jess Pegula play?
Pegula will then face Karolina Muchova in a match at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time or after the end of the first game.
Pegula, 30, is from Buffalo, New York. Her parents are Terry and Kim Pegula, the owners of the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League and the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. The family is one of the richest in the country with a net worth of $7.7 billion, according to a news source.
Navarro, a little younger than herself at 23 years old, is from New York City. Her parents are Ben and Kelly Navarro. Ben Navarro is a self-made business tycoon with a net worth of $1.5 billion.
The winners of these two games will compete against each other in the women’s final on Saturday.
