The identity of a busker spotted with Coldplay’s Chris Martin before the band’s gigs at Croke Park in Dún Laoghaire has been revealed – and he has a famous brother, albeit one not as famous as Martin himself.
Martin was spotted enjoying Dublin’s waterfront before the band’s four-night performance at Croke Park.
Coldplay are bringing their “Music of the Spheres” tour to Dublin for four nights starting Thursday, August 29th.
A video shared on Coldplay’s Instagram account shows the lead singer and frontman relaxing next to a local busker named Gerry.
The video shows the superstar strolling along the pier in Dún Laoghaire and is captioned: “So happy to be in Dublin. Nice to meet you Gerry.”
It has now been revealed that the street musician is the brother of former “Mrs Brown’s Boys” star Rory Cowan.

After the video appeared on the Internet, Cowan commented on it on Facebook.
“This is my younger brother Gerry. He’s a great banjo and mandolin player. And see him there playing banjo for Chris Martin,” said the panto actor.
The band hasn’t played in Dublin since the summer of 2017, so demand for performances by frontman Chris Martin and the rest of the band was huge when tickets went on sale last year.
Tickets for all four nights at GAA HQ – August 29 and 30 and September 1 and 2 – sold out within an hour of going on sale.
The gates to Croke Park will open tomorrow at 5pm and the event organiser MCD recommends that customers arrive at Croke Park at least 45 minutes before the concert begins.
Aby Coulibaly is expected to be on stage at 6:30 p.m., Maggie Rogers will appear at 7:15 p.m. Coldplay are expected to be on stage at 8:30 p.m. Their performance will last two hours.
