Football is back – are you ready for it?
After August flies by like a bottle of wine, the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens open the NFL season on September 5th with a clash at Arrowhead Stadium in Missouri. And as fans watch the season begin again, they will be on the lookout for Taylor Swift.
Close your eyes and the flashbacks begin, she was standing there – on a balcony (or rather in a luxury suite with Donna Kelce) in September 2023 air to cheer friend Travis Kelce at her first Chiefs game. While the sighting fueled pre-existing romance rumors between the Grammy winner and the tight end, she later confirmed that this wasn’t actually the beginning of their love story.
“It all started when Travis spoke to me very nicely on his podcast, which I thought was really metal,” Taylor recalled to TIME in her Person of the Year profile in December, where she points out how Travis in a July 2023 episode of his New heights Podcast that he wanted to give her a friendship bracelet with his number on it at her Eras Tour show, but things didn’t go according to his plan. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that nobody knew about, which I’m grateful for because we got to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple.”

That first game turned into twelve more – and lucky number 13 was the Chiefs’ victory in the 2024 Super Bowl. And considering that that meant two consecutive Vince Lombardi trophies for the team, you could say they earned a reputation as winners.
Travis and Taylor’s relationship has gone beyond the field – they’ve gone on celebrity dates, vacationed together, and he’s supported her at her Eras Tour concerts. And while dating in the public eye can come with challenges, they just try to shake them off.
“When you say a relationship is public, it means I see him doing what he loves, we’re there for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Taylor told the magazine. “The opposite of that is you have to go to extreme lengths to make sure no one knows you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
But make no mistake: The “Blank Space” singer not only loves the player, but also the game.
“She’s really interested in football,” Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes told NBC Chris Simms in August. “She’s asking a lot of good questions. She’s already made plays. Maybe we need to implement one of them.”
However, these moves are not necessarily intended for the whole team.
“She’s a little biased and just makes up pieces for me,” Travis noted in an episode of The Rich Eisen Show. “So we will see if they coach (Andy) Reid‘s office.”
They continue to be each other’s biggest cheerleaders – his spokespeople called a recent online media plan about the alleged split “completely false and fabricated” – but read on for a look back at Taylor’s playing style last season.

In supporting Travis Kelce When the Kansas City Chiefs faced the Chicago Bears on September 24, their first NFL game at Arrowhead Stadium, Taylor Swift wore the white Lois tank top by DÔEN and the distressed denim shorts by Ksubi, which she combined with a Chiefs windbreaker and matching sneakers by New Balance.

At the Chiefs’ game against the New York Jets on October 1 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, Taylor wore the denim shorts from Area, which quickly sold out. The singer completed the look with Christian Louboutin boots and a casual leather shirt from Gant.
