Last week was a lot going on! And for once, in a good way. I just got back from New York and saw one of the greatest Childish Gambino concerts. And now I’m back home talking to you about books. What a pleasure! Let’s dive into today’s book news, shall we?
Book offers and revelations
Hannah Selinger shares the dark truths about working in the restaurant industry in her new memoir Cellar Rat: My life in the underworld of the restaurant. It will be published on March 25, 2025 by Little, Brown and Company.
Book Riot recommends
Hi, welcome to everyone’s favorite segment of Book Radar called Book Riot Recommends. Here I talk to you about all the books I’m reading, the books I love, and the books I’m dying to read and love in the near future. I think you’ll love them too!
I can barely wait for it
Our Winter Monster by Dennis Mahoney (Hell’s Hundred, January 28, 2025)
If you’ve been reading Book Radar for a while, you’ve probably realized this pretty clearly: horror books are always at the top of my reading list, and this new book coming out in early 2025 is one I’m going to read as soon as it’s available! After all, it’s winter, so you’re going to want to read it in the cold months to get the full experience, right?
Holly and Brian were in a happy relationship, but one night changed everything. Neither could forgive and forget, and they haven’t been on the same page since. Hoping to mend their relationship, the couple book a romantic getaway to a ski town to enjoy some much-needed time together. But their hopes of a lovely ski trip are dashed when a snowstorm hits the area, and while trying to outrun the bad weather by racing to their destination, they lose control of the car.
Seven weeks ago, Sheriff Kendra Parker lost a couple in the snow. Now, when she gets calls about another couple in danger, she feels like this is a chance to make amends. But it won’t be easy. People say a mysterious creature is wrecking the town, destroying cars and killing everything in its path.
Words of literary wisdom
“Sometimes the perfect sandwich is not just about the sandwich itself, but also about the environment. The experience of eating the sandwich. The context can make a great sandwich a spiritual experience.”
— The Pairing by Casey McQuiston
And here is a cat picture!
Check out this cute kitten! My friend is currently fostering two tabby kittens, a brother and sister. This one is named AKA. Would you like to adopt them?? They are currently available in the NYC area! They are little angels.
And that’s all for today’s Book Radar! As always, I hope you have a great weekend and I’ll be back on Monday with more book topics for you.
