A singer and pianist from the Saanich Peninsula serves his main course on television – without reheating leftovers.
Michael Kaeshammer’s project for summer 2023 – the television show Kaeshammer’s Kitchen – followed a love of cooking that was born while traveling. He discovered his passion for cooking while trying to find solid meals of a more thoughtful kind, not fast food.
Gathering ingredients and preparing something without a recipe sparked a passion for cooking that resulted in the six-part series last fall.
On September 7, Kaeshammer will start its second season with twice as many episodes – a dozen – and will cook with guests ranging from legendary Canadian rocker Colin James to two-time 2024 JUNO Award winner Aysanabee.
Kaeshammer and prominent guests perform magic in the kitchen and then take to the stage for a musical performance.
“This show is the perfect way for me to combine my two passions: music and food. The 13 episodes of the second season give me the opportunity to reconnect with artists I’ve met before and make new friends with people I haven’t met yet. I’m excited for the current season to air and can’t wait to put together the guest list and recipes for season 3,” he said.
“Kaeshammer’s Kitchen” premieres on September 7th on Chek TV locally and nationally on YES TV and Channel Zero.
Guests include James, pop star Tyler Shaw, neo-soul artist Katie Tupper, songwriting master Donovan Woods, legendary musician Chuck Leavell (longtime musical director and touring member of the Rolling Stones and former member of the Allman Brothers Band), Jill Barber, Grammy Award winner Mike Farris, JUNO nominee Matt Anderson and Aysanabee.
Kaeshammer himself has been nominated for a JUNO seven times and has thrilled audiences around the world, notably on nine tours of China, countless shows with international superstars and three appearances at the Olympic Games.
