It looks like a former Alabama defensive lineman is once again roaming the sidelines at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Chris Stewart, the voice of the Crimson Tide, confirmed Thursday that former Alabama and NFL star Damion Square will take over the permanent position as sideline reporter for the Crimson Tide Sports Network.
“That’s true for this Saturday and the entire season,” Stewart announced Thursday on “The Opening Kickoff” on WNSP-FM 105.5 in Mobile. “Damion will be with us and we’re excited to have him. He’s a guy who played in three national championships during his playing days (2008-2012).”
Earlier this week, the Crimson Tide Sports Network announced that Square would assume the role for Saturday’s season opener against Western Kentucky, but a permanent replacement for Damien Harris has not yet been found.
“He’ll be working as a sideline reporter,” Stewart said. “We’re excited to have him. (He’s) very enthusiastic. He was eager to be back with his school and his program.”
“We are very happy that Damion is joining us.”
Meanwhile, Harris, who played at Alabama from 2015-18, was introduced as the new sideline reporter for the Crimson Tide Sports Network on Aug. 8. Less than a week later, however, Stewart told “The Opening Kickoff” that Harris had instead decided to pursue “another opportunity.”
That opportunity, as it turns out, comes as an analyst for “College Football Pregame,” a three-hour show that streams every Saturday morning on CBS Sports HQ.
