For the first time this summer, Liverpool fans will see a new signing in the famous red shirt and it has been announced which number Federico Chiesa will wear.
It was announced on liverpoolfc.com that the Italian will wear the number 14 shirt and he spoke about the reasons for his choice:
“That’s the number I wore for the national team, but it was an easy choice because Liverpool sent me a video. At the end of that video – which showed my career and the goals I scored for Fiorentina and Juventus – I was wearing the number 14 shirt. So I thought, ‘Ah, it was so destined!’ So I chose number 14.”

It was most recently worn by Jordan Henderson, a player who represented the club for 12 seasons and won numerous trophies as our captain – so no pressure, Federico!
Not only our former captain, but also players like Xabi Alonso, Jan Molby and … Milan Jovanovic have worn this number.
It’s great to hear the efforts the club makes to convince players to join us and the video certainly seems to have had an impact on our new signing.

After seeing how difficult it was for Martin Zubimendi to move to Merseyside, it’s great to see this natural enthusiasm from the 26-year-old who made the right decision!
Let’s hope it will be a long and happy time with the Reds and that we grow fond of the former Juventus player.
