Julián Ortega, an actor who starred in the Spanish Netflix hit elitehas died after reportedly collapsing on a beach. He was 41 years old.
The Spanish actors’ union confirmed Ortega’s death in an obituary earlier this week. “From the Unión de Actores y Actrices we send our most sincere condolences to the actor’s family and friends,” it said.
There are different reports about Ortega’s death. Initially it was said that Ortega drowned, but later it was said that he collapsed on Zahora beach in Barbate early Sunday evening.
Olive press Spainan English-language publication in Spain, reported that Ortega suffered cardiac arrest and paramedics spent up to 30 minutes trying to resuscitate him.
Ortega appeared in six episodes of elite in 2018. The series is one of Netflix’s most established Spanish original series and its eighth and final season recently premiered on the platform. His other credits included Carontea crime drama that streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
Spanish actress Silvia Marsó was among those paying tribute to Ortega. She wrote on Instagram that it was difficult to take in the news. “Absolute sadness,” she said.
