With SEC football just hours away, ABC has officially released its new theme song for the Southeastern Conference.
The ESPN affiliate has revamped a classic, revamping its college football theme song from the 1990s and early 2000s to highlight the strong historical ties and powerful programs within the SEC.
The video released by ESPN PR features clips from old and new conference members.
The rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma, the newest members of the SEC, is discussed at the beginning and logos of all 16 programs are seen throughout.
The inconspicuous football player in silhouette appears to run back and forth between SEC programs during the one-and-a-half minute long video.
ABC also showed some clips of SEC teams from previous seasons, such as Texas A&M, Missouri and others, paying tribute to the programs that were already in the conference before this season.
Many football fans were unhappy with the newly orchestrated version of the decades-old college football theme song, but for now, the SEC song will remain on ABC.
The original song was played courtesy of Jefferson Pilot Sports on ABC and highlighted some of the best aspects of both teams, especially before a conference game.
Arkansas will be the first SEC team to take the field this season when the Razorbacks face in-state foe Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
However, the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs will be the first SEC team to compete on ABC when they face the No. 14 Clemson Tigers in the Aflac Kickoff Game.
Perhaps Georgia fans will get to enjoy their own version of ABC’s introduction to SEC football.
